The Position

Basic Research has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Editorial Content who is looking to join a fast-paced growing company. We are seeking a talented Director, Editorial Content to shape the direct response media & advertising strategies of our products/brands/campaigns and lend those unique voices to a broad range of original content spanning headlines, taglines, positioning statements, video, social media, email and site copy. This opportunity gives you the chance to oversee and manage creative writing projects with an internal team as well as external agencies and over time, build a larger team while playing a highly visible role with an industry leader. The Director, Editorial Content will partner with cross functional teams and project leaders across the organization. You will be instrumental in ensuring our communication efforts are executed with precision and efficiency following brand guidelines provided by the CD.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES ROLE

 

  • Responsible for developing original and compelling content for online and offline direct response marketing
  • Develop positioning for campaigns across video/television, social, web, advertising (digital and print), packaging and in-line retail
  • Evaluate and take direction from Marketing briefs to solve business problems through creative execution
  • Provide strategic editorial leadership to develop content solutions that support business goals and conversion needs while captivating and delighting our customers
  • Ensure that copy meets legal and regulatory standards as determined by internal teams
  • Focus on multiple initiatives and be flexible to working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment
  • Produce original video scripts and social media content that excites and engages our customers
  • Create site copy, marketing emails and blog posts with consistent style and coherence, while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Capture the broad range of voices across our multiple brands and product line extensions
  • Work cross functionally with Creative lead, Digital, Brand, Customer Experience, Project Management and Legal

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Direct Response experience driving sales, online lifestyle and e-commerce experience required
  • A general understanding of direct response marketing best practices
  • Experience writing direct response scripts for television
  • Superior writing skills, attention to detail and familiarity with basic industry style guide standards a must
  • Excellent command of grammar
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and resolve multiple projects efficiently, resourcefully, and independently
  • Team player who maintains composure in high pressure and fast-paced situations
  • Strong communication skills
  • A champion for collaboration and working cross functionally
  • Ability to work in a start-up like environment
  • Has a strong work ethic and passion to get the job done
  • Ability to professionally work through change orders, difference of opinion and creative disagreements
  • Extensive experience writing demand gen copy and a deep understanding of e-commerce best practice
