What We're Looking for:

Basic Research has an exciting opportunity for a Video & Photography Content Director a creative visionary who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a proven track record in producing branded video content for digital, social and email platforms. Candidate is highly organized, extremely detail oriented and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with high expectations and demanding deadlines.  This position will report into the Creative Director and liaise closely with the product, marketing, content, sales, design and front-end teams. Experience in the Health & Beauty/Weight Loss/Fitness categories a plus.

 

 

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in managing/executing strategic video and photo content from concept/development to completion
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities and effectively developing timelines
  • The ideal candidate will be highly creative, have high level production skills and have a proven track record in delivering video content projects for use across multiple platforms
  • Experience with shooting still photography for social media and digital advertising (flat lays, product shots, life-style imagery, etc)

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Has a thorough knowledge of video camera and support equipment
  • Must have ability to work on AVID non-linear editing platform
  • Must have experience with other video editing software tool such as Adobe Premier, Final Cut or After Effects
  • Has a thorough knowledge of timing, pacing and continuity
  • Possess a creative mind and excellent storytelling skills
  • Excellent communication skills are key to this role and the ability to collaborate with a wider cross-functional team within the organization and across external vendors
  • An understanding of quality, a creative thinker who sees value in high level production and execution of projects
  • Project teams are lean so must possess the ability to not only direct and manage but deliver and administer all areas of work independently without team support
  • Must be comfortable working within an inter-dependent, collaborative environment where creativity and insights can (and will) come from anywhere within the company, and fresh ideas and concepts are encouraged on a daily basis
  • Must work effectively amongst tight process, procedures and deadlines
  • Must possess the ability to adapt well in changing situations and environments
  • Ability to keep teams focused on common goals
  • Possess the ability to take and give direction while always understanding the brand requirements and any other market factors
  • Demonstrate proven organizational, analytical and problem solving skills

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with research and analytics team to understand video trends. Build goals and objectives for production team and provide a forum for internal video development on production concepts, strategies and process
  • Continually monitor all projects in progress with regard to schedule, budgets, update meetings, etc. Report any schedule and budget challenges and provide solutions
  • Stay abreast of new developing digital production technologies, work flows and new cameras
  • Create rough cuts and final edits
  • Lead/participate in brainstorming sessions and deliver proactive concepts
  • Work closely with project leads to deliver the highest quality, on-message content
  • Work closely with creative team to create and implement graphics
  • Organize files and incorporate proper tags, titles and descriptions
  • Source music for edits
  • Keeping description links up-to-date and adjusting featured content links accordingly
  • Delivering thumbnails to creative team to support video edits
  • Support the company's Social Media efforts including managing/restructuring/reporting metrics the organization's YouTube channel page
