What We're Looking for:

Basic Research has an exciting opportunity for a collaborative UX/UI Designer who is highly organized, extremely detail oriented and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with high expectations and demanding deadlines. The UX/UI Designer will report into the Creative Director and liaise closely with the visual design, front-end development and marketing teams. Our ideal candidate is passionate about creating thoughtful and compelling user experiences that elevate our brands and ensure our customers are excited and an engaged. Experience in the Health & Beauty/Weight Loss/Fitness categories a plus.

 

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience building wireframes
  • Has conducted usability studies to gauge user behavior
  • Familiar with Crazy Egg or Hot Jar technologies to identify opportunities in user flow
  • Experience with Bohemian Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Deep experience in mobile responsive design, Customer Journey, Maps, etc...
  • Proven track record in using data to drive decision making
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities and effectively developing timelines

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years UX/UI experience
  • Must have a strong portfolio that exemplifies a broad range of UX/UI solutions from conception to completion
  • Ability to participate in team and cross-functional design discussions and receive feedback well
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Eye for visual design
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design
  • Ability to clearly articulate design solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to discuss high level concepts and detailed design with equal fluency
  • Must possess strong conception, presentation, and client-facing skills (marketing, development, executives)

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as a design resource (both user experience and interaction design), supporting all current and future digital initiatives
  • Proficient in all UX practices: research, information architecture (IA), interaction design (IxD), visual design, content strategy, user research, etc.
  • Conduct usability and design research - including physical/remote user testing, surveys, lab tests...working closely with the Web Analytics / Testing teams
  • Evangelize findings to the rest of the team
  • Facilitate workshops and lead conversations with internal business team
  • Create mockups when needed to effectively communicate user experience and design features
  • Participate in quality assurance testing and provide multi-platform (desktop, mobile, tablet, multi-browser) feedback to development team to ensure highest quality in release
  • Transform complex systems and interconnected challenges into engaging solutions that excite and motivate our users
  • Assist the team in evolving our design language and UX standards to create a cohesive design and user experience
  • Collaborate with design, front-end, project management and marketing teams (Brand, Digital) to drive solutions through to completion
  • Capture ideas and transform into solutions from whiteboard sketches to interactive prototypes and visual designs
  • Advocate for our users at every step of the process
  • Follow brand standards and web style guides to ensure brand maintains their unique visual identities
