Basic Research is looking to place a creative and experienced Senior Copywriter to develop, write, and deliver advertising copy from conception to completion for an established, direct sales nutraceutical company. Our product is distributed in 45,000 individual retail outlets in more than 35 countries worldwide and we've sold over 60 million products across more than 25 brands. This role will craft creative, forward-thinking marketing promotions that lead the reader to a buying decision there and then.

Working alongside various departments, senior copywriters must be team players who can interact with, present to and explain creative concepts to all levels within the company and be master multitaskers to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. This role is ideal for advanced copywriters ready to make their mark and influence others while maintaining their role as a mentor to help others grow professionally.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Advocate brand consistency and mentor others to become experts in brand communication.
  • Gather pertinent information, write creative copy, and proofread all materials for content, clarity, grammar, spelling, etc.
  • Writing responsibilities include, but are not limited to, brochures, press releases, newsletters, presentations and training scripts, communications via social media, TV and radio scripts, and promotions.
  • Lead in the preparation of the sales/marketing program and coordinates layouts with the art department.
  • Mentor others on the team to improve their copy skills.
  • Projects may include some technical writing as well as other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or BA degree in English, Journalism or Communications related field.
  • 7-10 years' experience in a Marketing/Direct Sales environment.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a Copywriter role.
  • Working knowledge of MS-Office, especially Outlook and Word.
  • A natural educator and influencer who is able to mentor and coach, and can bring people up to speed with ease.
  • Proven ability that demonstrates creative and persuasive work across a range of marketing channels that should include advertising, retail, email, social and web.
  • Familiarity with creative processes and techniques including digital media.
  • Confidence in building a rapport with clients and nurturing good working relationships.
  • Ready to rise to any challenge by offering fresh, innovative ideas on demand.
  • Curious in nature, with the ability to think in visual terms.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience translating research summaries into marketing material.
  • Experience in e-commerce writing, double bonus if the writing platform was for Google AdWords or Amazon.
  • Working knowledge of FTC Rules & Regulations as it applies to the nutraceutical industry.
  • Experience in the health, dietary supplement, or skin-care industries.
