Basic Research is currently seeking an experienced Senior Sales and Marketing Analyst will work closely with Sales, Marketing and Accounting Teams serving as the subject matter expert for delivering data-driven, actionable customer insights that will directly contribute to increased sales, profitability and customer loyalty.  This position will be responsible for analyzing and translating customer and category data for over 25 product lines that are distributed in 45,000 retail outlets in over 35 countries.  Specific analyses and projects will include the development of actionable insights that apply to specific customer(s) and/or general category analysis with emphasis on transaction data, internal and third-party customer POS data.  Knowledge of the CPG or Nutraceutical Industry and knowledge of the departments, brands, products and attributes are highly valuable.

  • Execute analysis and provide reporting and insights to identify areas of opportunity and trends to maximize brand and category sales volume.
  • Assist in the development, understanding, sourcing, and synthesis of data sets to generate category insights that lead to actionable recommendations with customers.
  • Create and maintain sales and revenue KPIs and custom dashboards.
  • Create monthly, quarterly, yearly and Ad-Hoc Operations/Sales metrics.
  • Identify, quantify, and explore key phenomena in the data to surface general or promotional category, customer, or consumer insights.
  • Champion key insights and ensure they are effectively shared throughout the organization.
  • Other duties may be assigned as the position evolves.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business, marketing or an analytical major.
  • 3-5 years' experience translating consumer insights and big data into tangible initiatives using either syndicated.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in very large and complex data sets.
  • Deep familiarity with category analysis and tools with the aim of translating customer and category data into actionable strategies to support decision-making in determining strategy in areas such as market opportunity, market penetration strategy, and market development.
  • High Proficiency in Excel - understanding of database structure, SQL, BI tools and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated success in measuring and analyzing marketing campaign performance and customer sales data to drive business performance.
  • Excellent analytical skills and knowledge of analytical methodologies used for optimization and evaluation of multi-channel marketing campaigns (i.e., customer segmentation, predictive response models, marketing analysis, trend analysis, forecasting, etc.
  • Self-starter who can work independently, execute quickly and further develop the circulation.
  • Additional duties as positon evolves.

 BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA in Accounting or Quantitative degree preferred.
  • 1 plus years' experience using IRI and/or Nielsen syndicated data reporting systems in a manufacturing or CPG industry. 
  • Practical knowledge of SQL for data analysis.
