Job Summary

Basic Research is currently seeking a highly strategic Brand Marketing Director to develop strategic and operational planning for a core brand that consists of over 25 product lines sold in more than 35 countries.  Responsibilities include day-to day ownership of a core brand, including forecasting, pricing, P&L management, product assortment management, correspondence with Sales, development of branding and marketing initiatives for new and existing products, and management of cross-functional teams. The Brand Marketing Director is responsible for consistently analyzing and monitoring activities that deliver against the brand's strategic, volumetric and financial goals. Inherent in this responsibility is a commitment to build relationships and work closely with all internal and external business functions, retail merchandisers, marketing and sales professionals to effectively position the Category brands and products to drive consumer adoption that translate into long-term success for the products/brands and company.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Profit & Loss (P&L) and the successful growth of brands and products in the Category, across all sales channels.
  • Must be able to develop and present competitive forecasts and market analysis to identify and act upon opportunities in the global marketplace. 
  • Responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive marketing plans, Go-To-Market launches, retail promotions and budgets to meet company sales revenue objectives.
  • Execute and support the development of business plans, marketing & sales activities and recommend on-going modifications to achieve revenue and profitability targets, as well as other brand objectives.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing & sales activities and offer recommendations for future programs. 
  • Develop brand programs and link them to channel positioning and promotional strategies.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in driving the execution of key initiatives from inception to launch. Initiatives would include product improvements, new products, packaging, and new market opportunities.
  • Manage timelines and operational activities with product development, inventory, procurement and sales.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the business in existing channels and broaden distribution to new channels and/or international markets.
  • Identify needs / opportunities; develop pricing, distribution, and promotional strategies.
  • Responsibilities and/or duties may evolve as the business environment changes.

Position Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Marketing or Business preferred). MBA preferred but not required.
  • 8-10 years relevant experience leading cross-functional marketing teams in building and supporting brands, and leading merchandising and promotional plans across distribution channels.

 

Knowledge / Skills:

  • Interpret and identify opportunities through data analysis and industry trends. 
  • Proven track record of developing industry relationships with clients and peers, vendors and partners.
  • Ability to interpret and plan for financial projections.
  • Ability to work independent of supervision and make decisions on a wide variety of complex marketing and branding data.  
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of PC hardware and software packages.
  • Knowledge of GMP practices.
  • Solid communication & presentation skills at all levels.
  • Preferred experience in the dietary supplements, cosmetics and/or sports nutrition.
