Basic Research, an established leader in the nutraceutical industry, is currently seeking an experienced Production Artist to work closely with the design team to execute the design/artwork for a product line that consists of over 25 different brands which are distributed globally through direct sales marketing and through retail sales. Using a combination of artistic, technical and computer skills, typical projects are designed for (but are not limited to) offset printing, digital printing, flexo printing, web or electronically transmitted media, and inkjet or large format printing processes (i.e. POP & tradeshow displays). Position is ideal for recently graduated design students seeking opportunities to gain practical experience and understanding of pre-press processes.

  • Review pre-press proofs to correct any errors and confirm the design has been executed properly
  • On site press checks
  • Organize and maintain art files archive for future reference and use
  • Consult with the marketing team, sales team, print vendors and others in the decision-making process of determining the best options for packaging and print media, etc., and for direct mail, email, digital and other advertising
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as the position evolves

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in or completion of a certificate program or associate's/bachelor's degree related to graphic design or equivalent experience
  • Software proficiency: Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Knowledge of or aptitude for learning various printing processes (offset, digital, flexo, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of typography and the ability to manipulate text in harmony with designed marketing concepts and purposes
  • Ability to work closely with copywriters, graphic designers, marketing executives in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to work in a highly fluid and fast-moving environment and occasionally work flexible hours in addition to customary business hours
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as the position evolves

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Advanced skills in Adobe's Creative Suite
  • Digital or offset print shop experience
  • Experience using 3D rendering software, such as Cinema 4D
